Fresh seed.

So I've got some new grass seed in.
I'm doing a handful of lawn renovations.
It's nearly May.
The seed I use is from Green Velvet, it's fresh.
How do you know when your grass seed is fresh?
It will say it on the label, you can see on this label in the photo the date of bag seal 10/22.
Why is fresh grass seed important?
It will be more likely to germinate constantly.
